The future of this region is in all our hands

The Howe Sound Biosphere Region Initiative Society (HSBRIS) leads the effort to bring together a “community of communities” in this region, working with First Nations, all levels of government, individuals, businesses, and organizations to develop a shared vision for the entire Átl’ḵa7tsem/Howe Sound watershed – a vision that can be brought into reality.

HSBRIS undertakes this sizeable challenge as a charitable organization, reliant on grants and donations to operate four streams of work.

Capacity Building - We build capacity across four foundational pillars of Management, Governance, Resources, and Administrative Systems & IT.

Building Networks and Consensus - Together with our strategic partners and collaborators, we bring people together, hold ethical space, bridge divides, and balance perspectives to build consensus and collaboration among First Nations, civil society, multi-sector stakeholders, and all levels of government.

Generating information and Capacity - We bring capacity and support to conduct Research & Monitoring programs and develop decision-making tools.

Increasing Connection to People and Place - By educating, sharing knowledge and information, providing support and tools, we can advocate for and highlight best practices and increase belonging and stewardship.

We welcome donations, large or small, in cash or in kind, to help support our programs.

HSBRIS is registered charity number 70613 0697 RR001. Receipts for income tax purposes are available for all cash donations.
