These pages are extracted from our 2021-2026 Strategic plan. Download the detailed plan here and the appendix for the OECM Workplan here. The strategy is based upon the Vision, Purpose, Mission, and Values of HSBRIS as expressed in 2021 during the strategic planning session, and our commitments to the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Framework as expressed in our UNESCO Nomination document.
Strategic Priorities:
To advance towards the 10-year outcomes, the following are the five-year interim outcomes we need to focus on and achieve…
Advance Sustainable Development: Key partnerships and adequate supports, data and tools are in place for planning gaps across the region to be filled; and the region’s sustainability targets are defined and embedded with the UN’s sustainable development goals (SDGs) in the planning and decision-making processes.
Advance Biodiversity Conservation: Key partnerships work to further education, monitoring, and research, fill knowledge gaps, and increase stewardship and connection to place.
Advance Reconciliation, Equity & Inclusion: The AHSBR roundtable and forums for convening in ethical space are well established to further the relationships, dialogue and understanding in the context of all AHSBR nations and communities.
Strengthen HSBRIS: We are a strong, capable, high-capacity organization with diverse and adequate resources to fulfill our purpose.
Our Program:
To fulfill our purpose of ‘Strengthening collaboration in Átl'ka7tsem / Howe Sound biosphere region (AHSBR),’ HSBRIS provides a valuable logistical support and engagement function to the biosphere region as per the mandate and structure of Biospheres. Our program is focused in these key areas that facilitate and support the organizing and planning of complex activities that bring allegiance toward balancing development, conservation, and equity in AHSBR.
