Appropriate stewardship, restoration and monitoring will support conservation of biodiversity, and preservation of the natural environment. Species at risk inventory assessments, as well as collaborative identification, restoration, stewardship, and monitoring of key habitat areas in the region will occur throughout the project. Activities will enable collaboration with First Nations and other key stakeholders.
Expected Results:
Enhanced and collaborative conservation of biodiversity, as well as preservation of the natural environment.
+ 4.1 Species Surveying and Monitoring
Conduct species at risk monitoring where information gaps are identified on species present in and adjacent to buffer areas and areas for potential increased protections. Specifically, Rockfish, and amphibians. Read about our Rockfish Monitoring project, Streamkeeping and Amphibian Project here. Partially on track
+ 4.2 Regional Biodiversity Strategy
Develop biodiversity Conservation Strategy provide the necessary information to ensure that stewardship of the natural environment is considered in all development decisions.Work in progress
Key Results
Overall at the end of the project we will have increased the amount of information and knowledge about biodiversity in the region, enhanced ecosystems and protected important habitat. This will be documented in a report that demonstrates the enhancement of OECMS in the region.
Five species at risk monitoring project implemented, analysed and documented with CDC.
Biodiversity conservation strategy is funded and implemented in Squamish Valley
